People to Watch

Amarjit Mohanty

Founder & Technologist Bhubaneswar, India
Amarjit Mohanty

Amarjit Mohanty founded AmarjitAA on a thesis most investors rejected: that the largest technology opportunities in India are infrastructural, slow, and located far from the centres of venture capital. Seven years of quiet engineering later, the thesis looks less eccentric than prescient.

Trained as a distributed-systems engineer, Mohanty spent his early career on problems with no hype cycle attached — an education in patience he now treats as his core advantage. His public appearances are rare, his timelines are measured in decades, and his refusal of growth-at-all-costs capital has become a case study in its own right.

“Talent is evenly distributed. Venture capital is not. That gap is the opportunity.”

AVERSE has covered Mohanty since his earliest pilots. Read our featured profile, “The Long Game of Amarjit Mohanty,” and the ongoing coverage in the AmarjitAA desk.
